Parks and Recreation Board Meeting

Tuesday, November 3, 2015
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
I. Call to Order
Members present were Bob Kickner and Vicki Gilthvedt. Department staff present were Parks Director
Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly and Parks Secretary]ulie Mehl. Guest
attendee Jordan Minker, Auburn Riverside High School student.

The previous minutes are not approved as there is no quorum.

VII. Department Report (Faber/ Kelly)
Veterans week is in progress including a breakfast & luncheon. The parade will have 36 high school
bands and five fly overs including a C17 military aircraft. (Faber)
The Auburn Police Department held an outreach with Arcadia House (youth shelter) which included a
park clean up at Veterans Memorial. Valuable connections were made with 18 — 24 year old homeless
folks. (Kelly)
Community Center update: The forms and foundation will be poured in the upcoming weeks. The
project is on time and on budget. (Faber)
Spray park at Sunset— We have been working with the Auburn Lions Club and Bonney Lake water on
logistics; storm water, drainage etc. (Faber) '
Cedar Lanes Park—There have been efforts to clean up this 10 acre park as there has been an inFlux of
illegal activity. A neighborhood meeting was held, and a park clean-up project so when the Auburn
Police Department patrol the area iYs more visible. (Kelly)
