Parks and Recreation Board Meeting

Tuesday, February 2, 2016
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
I. Call to Order
Members present were Chair Michael Hassen, Members Greg Dobbs and Bob Kickner. Department staff
present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly and Parks
Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The May, July, September, November 2015 minutes are motioned for approval by Greg Dobbs, seconded
by Bob Kickner. Julie Mehl will email Vicki Gilthvedt for her input/ approval.

V. Old Business
The tree inventory projed included 3000 trees in developed park areas as part of a DNR grant. The data
includes list of attributes, species, common name, general health, GPS point etc. The trees are color
coded in GIS by condition.

VII. Department Report (Faber/ Kelly)
Community Center update: The contractor, Pease Construction is two weeks behind the original schedule
due to weather issues. )une 1 is the scheduled soft opening.
Health building on Auburn Ave. will be restored to the time when it was a post office. The roof needs
repair. These updates will take a year to complete. The building will be used in conjunction with our arts
and theater staff/ programs.
The City will now be coordinating Auburn Days. It will include a fun run, car show and beer garden.
The playground at Isaac Evans Park is being updated and will include dual zip lines. It will be part of the
2016 Clean Sweep project.
The"Get Up and Get Out" program will be held two days per week this summer at various parks
including: Cedar Lanes, Lea Hill, and Brannan parks.
