Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, March S, 2016
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
I. Call to Order
Members present were Chair Michael Hassen, Members Vicki Gilthvedt and Bob Kickner. Department
staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly and
Parks Secretary Julie Mehl

The February minutes are not approved as there is no quorum

Parks Director Daryl Faber would like to consider replacing non-attending board members with active
members

VII Department Report (Faber/ Kelly)
Les Gove Park — Demolition on the Herr property will occur in the next few weeks. The space can be
used for car shows, farmer's market etc. and 15 parking spots will be added.
Director Faber reports 60 "RC Racers"arrive at Game Farm Wilderness Park on week-end. Airplane /
boat ordinance will be updated.
Notice to Vacate signs — Parks Planning & Development Manager]amie Kelly says City is using new tool
to move folks out of open space areas, sleeping under overhangs etc The signs will indicate in 48 hours
the City will clean up. This covers Park and non-Park areas in the City.
Director Faber shares we have applied for a King County Youth Facility grant which may be used on field
�1 at Brannan to convert to synthetic turf Sunset Park is also being considered Board member Kickner
adds Brannan#1 would be great, GRCC would be able to use as"Home of the Gators" rather than their
current location in Puyallup
Director Faber reports there is a family who resides near the Mary Olson Farm who would like a historical
Native American site located below the creek. This area would be included in school field trips and could
include muttiple trails The City will apply to King County for conservation futures dollars
