I. Call fo Order, Introductions:
Viee'Chair Gollnick called:the meeting to order at 4:35,pm. Brief�ntroductions of those pcesent. Since
there was not aguorum, minutes from the Novernber 1,2016 meeting will not be approved u.ntil ttie
February meeting,
II. Art on Main 2U17
Arts Coordinator Hyde pcesenfed the 2017 recommende.d artists for th'e new'window-front galleryspace
in Auburn, Art on Main.45 applications were received and fouc artists were recommended fbr exhibitions
for the 20'17 year including Elizabeth Gahan, Christopher Hartshorne,Katie M'iller; and Savina Ma.son.
Cornmission approved ofithe su.ggestions and appreciated the�ariefy of design and the different art
mediums that will be featuTed in the new gallery..
lIL Arts Educati'on Classes
ArtS,Goordi.nator Hyde discussed the proposed Iist of classes being planned for Spring and S,ummer of
2017.Also discussed was the recent purchase of a small printmaking press far the Maker's:Space and
the infegration of printmaking info arts education classes and art-making activities at iocal events:
IV.. Updates and Upcoming Events
Kru:eger discussed a number of recent and upco_ming'events including t.he successful recent perfo�mance
series af the Christmas Story and the upcoming Leadership Class on Arts&Culture in Auburn taking
place January 11, 2017. Krue.ge.r also suggested;that a future Arts Comm.ission meeting could be held in
the new Maker's Space so as to introduce and.tamiliarize the Arts Commission with the technology,
equiprnent and classes being taught in the space.Also discussed briefly wa"s the subject of t,he Aubucn
School District 1Nashington State;Arts Commission percent for art project.,The Commission is fond of the
Greg Bartol"Dancers"scu,lpture that is cu�renfl.y on display at the Qu.bwm Valley Creaiive Arts space and
think.s this piece would be a good addition;to the Auburn PerForming Arts Center. Kcueger indicated that
she would inqu'ire as to the status of theAubum School District.project.
. Arny Sie and Greg V1latson were introduced as new Arts Commissioners for 2017 and both made brief
introductions to the Arts CommisSion. Their official appointment will take place at the Council meeting on
January 3, 2017,just after the Arts Commission;meeting.
Krueger updated the Arts'Comrnission on the status of pla"ns for tfie new Arts&Culture Center in ttie old
Aubum post office�Initial IayouCs bythe architects are in progress.and should be finished soon. �
Krueger updated the Arts Cornmission on the Big Daddy Iconic Public Art project ptogress, and asked for �
interested arts commissioners to join a committee to acf as a jury fo�the pro.cess of scoping the project
and selscting the a�tist for the public arfwork comrnissian. Commissioners Jan Jensen and Greg 1Natson
�olunteered to be a part of°this committee..
Amy'Sie,suggested a visiting arti'st who roakes,clofhing;and jewelry out of mulberry paper to come.
