I. Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board met at Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 2:00 pm.
Tree board members attending were Chair Bryce Landrud, Members: Brooksie Donna Hall, Jan Speer,
Also present at the meeting were Parks Planning Manager]amie Kelly, Horticulturist Richard Valenti,
Parks Maintenance Trent Mannon and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
Jan Speer moved to approve]anuary 2017 minutes with the following correction: change"Yellow Maple"
to"Yellow Poplar" under Les Gove tree planting discussion, board concurs.

IV. Old Business
Chair Landrud reports potential Heritage Tree #2 at Auburn Youth Resources property is a Box Elder.
Horticulturist Richard Valenti reports the"red"trees, indicating potential danger, have been evaluated
and some removed. These are the results from the tree inventory project.
V. New Business
Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly reporLs wood chips are needed for the community garden on 8�h St
for a Clean Sweep project.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input
Chair Landrud reports Thundering Oak Enterprises is removing some fir trees at the Auburn Golf Course.
Arbor Day will be held April 20th at Les Gove Park and a Scarlet Oak will be planted.
VII. Department Report
Horticulturist Valenti reports: 64 trees were removed at Kersey II, mostly Douglas Firs and Western Red
Cedar trees as they were planted too close together. Arborvitae was removed at Fulmer Park because of
transient activity. Public Works Maintenance & Operations now has a horticulturist on staff.
VIII. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:55 pm.
