HomeMy WebLinkAbout3419 RESOLUTION 3419 _ _._ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT ROR 2002 BETWEEN THE CITY OF AUBURN AND SENIOR SERVICES OF SEATTLE/KING COUNTY NUTRITION PROJECTS (SSS/KC) TO PROVIDE A FEDERALLY FUNDED HOT MEAL PROGRAM FOR _ _ LOW-INCOME ELDERLY CITIZENS IN THE AUBURN AREA. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. The Ivlayor and Ci_ty Clerk of the City of Auburn aze lieiewith authorized to execute a Memorandum of Agreement for 2002 between the City of Auburn and Senior Services of Seattle/King County Nutrition Projects (SSS/KC) to provide a federally funded hot meal program for low-income elderly citizens of the Auburn azea. A copy of said Agreement is attached hereto and denominated Exihibit "A" and incorporated herein. Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement such administrative proc.edures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Heid, City Attomey Resolution No.3419 February 1,2002 Page 2 of 2 MElVIORANDiJli�I OF AGREEM�NT Seattle/King County Nutrition Projects: Auburn This Memorandum of Agreement is between Senior Services of Seattle/King County(Senior Services), a non-profit corporation of Seattle, and the City of Aubum. In recognirion of the need to conrinue a social and nutritional program for low-income elderly citizens of the Auburn area, and in recognition that Senior Servicesof Seattle/King County has been granted govemmental financing which will be available to contribute to the cost of such acrivities, it is hereby agreed that Senior Services and the City of Auburn will work for the greater good of the community. It is agreed that the Aubum azea Nutrition Program will be held at the Auburn Senior Acd4ity Center. I.ikewise, it is agreed that there will be responsibilities on the part oflSenior Services in operating the program there. For these reasons, Senior Services and the City of Aubum agree to the following: 1. The City of Auburn agrees to provide kitchen facilities between the houTs of9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and dining mom facilities between the hours of 10:30 and 1:30 p.m., Monday tlirongh Friday, at the Auburn Senior Activity Center. 2. Senior Services agrees to pay $150.00 towazd the cost of the telephone line at Aubum Senior Activity Center for the period January 1, 2002, to December 31, 2002, following the submission of a statement from the City of Aubum. 3. Senior Services through the Nutririon Projects Director will employ a Site Manager and will be rasponsible for the salary. The Site Manager will be the superviso.ry staff inembe;and will work cooperarively with the staff and administrators at Aubum Senior Activity Center. The City of Aubum shall be consulted regazding staff selection. 4. Senior Services agrees to serve approximately 50 meals per day, Monday through Friday,to eldecly persons from the Aubum area at fhe Apbum Nutrition Site. It is understood that a suggested dona6on will be requested of participants to help cover the cost of the meal. 5. Senior Services will provide the City of Auburn participants in the Anburn azea all supgort services made available to the project as a whole. Any activiries sponsored by the Nutrifion Projects other than the serving of ineals to the elderly at Auburn Senior Activity Center should be approved by the Aubum Pazks and Recreation DepartinenYs Senior Center Supervisor prior to scheduling for the purpose of space confirniarion and publicity. 6. The Auburn Nutrition Program shall enconrage the establishment of a Site Council, at least 51%of which shall be made up of participants, two of which shall serve on the overall Project Counc.iL 7. Senior Services will be responsible for all liability insurance related to the operation of the Nutrition Program;and the City of Aubum will receive a certificate of insurance.. Any public relations activiries pertaining to the meal program shall be carried out in the coritezt of the total project and coordinated by the Nutrition Projects Director in cooperation with the Anbum Senior Center Supervisor. 9. Senior Services reserves the right to expand or reduce sfaffing levels,meal levels and/or serVice days dependent upon budgetary considerarions with appropriate notifioation to the host agency where the nutrifion site is located. 10. The term of this agreement shall be from January 1, 2002, to December 31,2002, and may be continued thereafter by mutual agreement of tkie parties. 11.
