A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUBURN, WASHINGTON EXPRESSING ITS DESIRE AND
SUPPORT FOR DICK'S DRIVE-IN RESTAURANT
WHEREAS, Dick's Drive-In is an iconic restaurant chain in the Puget Sound region;
and
WHEREAS, the first location opened in 1954, and the family-owned business has
been a Seattle-area favorite for 63 years; and
WHEREAS, the importance of investing in community is an integral part of the
DicK's Drive-In philosophy and founder Dick Spady, and this approach is incorporated into
the City of Auburn's economic development efforts; and
WHEREAS, Dick's Drive-In is Known for offering a classic menu featuCing burgers,
fries made from Pacific Northwest potatoes, soda, shakes; and ice cream; and
WHEREAS, enjoying food at Dick's with friends�and family is a tradition for many
Puget Sound area residents; and
WHEREAS, a Dick's Drive-In has eommitted to opening in the south end, and the
City of Auburn would be honored to have Dick's Drive-ln establish its seventh restaurant
in Auburn; and
WHEREAS, the restaurant would be an asset to the community as it provides
high-paying job opportunities and offers college scholarships for employees working at
least 20 hours each week; and
WHEREAS, Dick's Drive-In embod.ies the spirit and deep community love of cruise-
in culture.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE GITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City of Auburn; Washington, supports and encourages Dick's Drive-
In to open its seventh location in Auburn. Auburn would continue to honor Dick Spady's
legacy by offering a classic drive-in restaurant that serves as a destination for gatherings
and celebrations for all members of the community.

Section 2. That the Mayor' is authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force upon passage
and signatures hereon.
