Parks, Arts & Recreation/Community & Event Center
I. Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board met at Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 2:05 pm.
Tree board members attending were Chair Bryce Landrud, Member: James Tourangeau. Also present at
the meeting were Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly, Horticulturist Richard Valenti, and Parks Secretary
Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The March minutes have not been approved as there is no quorum.
III. Correspondence/Public Input
The Arbor Day tree planting will be held April 20 at Les Gove Park— 2:00 pm.
Jamie Kelty reminds the board that Clean Sweep is going to be held April 22 in conjunction with Earth
Day.
IV. Old Business
Bryce asked Julie to ensure the Heritage Tree at the Auburn Golf Course is scheduled on the April 17
Council meeting.
Jamie Kelly to verify with Nexus Youth & Families if they approve of the Box Elder as Heritage Tree.

VII. Department Report
Richard Valenti reports there is an area near Peasley Canyon being cleared for development which has
caused hydrology changes. 12'to 15' hemlocks were removed and a citizen would like the city to replace
them.
Jamie Kelly reports the Cypress Tree on Deal's Way was deliberately protected during the H St cut
through project.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:55 pm.
