E a r r� ■ _� �., _ -�. �. � � Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, August 8, 2017 5:30 p.m. Auburn Community & Event Center I. Call to Order Present were chair Michael Hassen, members Greg Dobbs, Wayne Osborne, Bailey Stober. Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly, and Parks Secretary]ulie Mehl. Also present were Candee Smith and Bud Dyer representing The Lions Club. II. Minutes The April minutes were moved for approval by Wayne Osborne, Bailey Stober seconds. III. Committee Member Input IV. Correspondence/Public Input V. Old Business VI. New Business Candee Smith and Bud Dyer discuss The Lions Club annual project. They would like to add five flag poles at Bicentennial Park representing each branch of service. They hope to install 25' poles and will ensure the new flags are lower than the American flag. Per Ken Gunter, City of Auburn Electrician, lighting updates won't be an issue. 75% of funds have been raised. Would like to hold a grand opening ceremony corresponding with Veteran's Day Events. Director of Parks Daryl Faber will forward request to Mayor Backus. VII. Department Report (Faber & Kelly) Director Faber reports summer camp numbers have increased significantly from last summer. Possibly due to the addition of the new Mix & Match summer camps. Les Gove— Lighted crescent project will include stage area, light poles with emergency phones, restroom updates. Completion date June 2018. The board watched the Livable Cities video regarding the alley project next to the Auburn Avenue Theater. Auburndale II is an undeveloped park just west of Kent. A developer wants to purchase a portion of our acreage, he will attend / present at our September meeting. � VIII. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:38 pm. AUBURN * MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED
