Call to Order 5:34 pm Present were chair Michael Hassen, members James]eyaraj, Bob Kickner, Wayne Osborne, Lisa Russell. Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly, Parks Recreation Manager Brian Petty and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. Also present were Alex Wilford and Pete Lymberis representing The Pulte Group. II. Minutes The August minutes were moved for approval by Wayne Osborne, Bob Kickner seconds. III. Committee Member Input Member Wayne Osborne recommends planting flowers & cleaning up beds in early spring to increase golfers at the Auburn Golf Course. Wayne also asked if during summer months, Parks Maintenance could water main street Flower baskets at 4am rather than l0am. Member Bob Kickner asked if we could incorporate an athletic element to future Auburn Days events. Tennis tournament, soccer or bocce and perhaps the school district could participate. Chair Michael Hassen asks how often we spray Brannan Park as field #3 is overgrown. IV. Correspondence/PublicInput V. Old Business VI. New Business Pete Lymberis and Alex Wilford from The Pulte Group present their idea to build 27 homes on Auburndale II property. The project would include a developed park on roughly half of the 9.34 acres. The park could include an off leash area, active recreation area, walking path, basketball court. The board discussed and would like Director Faber to contact King County for feasibility. VII. Department Report (Faber& Kelly) Lighted crescent & restroom project at Les Gove needs to be completed soon as they are using CDBG funds. Restrooms include 3 women's toilets, 2 men's, 1 urinal, and 1 family. The synthetic surFacing at Brannan will be completed in November. A 3rd pickle ball court is being added at Game Farm and will be done this fall, lines will be added in spring. Recreation Manager Brian Petty reports on summer camps. This year we had 1,525 registrations and $241,000 in revenue. Last year we had 988 registrations with $191,000 in revenue. The increase is most likely due to Mix & Match camps. Kids were able to select a morning camp and different afternoon camp each week. Camps such as science, film making, dance, art, climbing wall etc. Also offered were teen camps, adventure camps, theater camp and day camp. Public Art update: The art piece selected for Les Gove Park (a large spark plug) is being reconsidered. The artist is working on six new ideas for the old Big Daddy's site. The board recommended something great to represent Auburn and suggested a lighted piece. VIII. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 pm. I QUBURN * MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED
