Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, November 7, 2017
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Community & Event Center
I. Call to Order 5:34 pm
Present were chair Michael Hassen, members James Jeyaraj, Bob Kickner, Wayne Osborne, Lisa Russell.
Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager]amie
Kelly, and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The October minutes were moved for approval by Wayne Osborne, Michael Hassen seconds.
III. Committee Member Input
Member Bob Kickner asks for an update on The Pulte Group/ Auburndale II status. Director Faber has
left three voicemails with King County and no one has responded. The Pulte Group still wants to move
forward.
IV. Correspondence/Public Input
Director Faber received a letter from the parent of a 7-8 grade girls soccer participant that broke her arm
during a game. The parent is requesting more training for ofFicials so they can intervene when games
get too rough.

GIS created trail maps on the city website www.auburnwa.aov.
Currently in process of finishing the land acquisition at Brannan Park to connect the trail to 277cn
�/a mile trail at Rotary Park was completed.
Brannan Park mini soccer field project has begun, contractor fencing is up, surfacing to be done in
December.
Currently having issues with contractors, they have plenty of work so are not bidding on smaller jobs.
Les Gove crescent update: New restroom project is out to bid. Will be twice the size of current
restroom.
Game Farm Park lighting to be installed on field #4 and another pickle ball court to be built.
Transient camp activity; key is to find early, post vacate signage, and clean up. Ray of Hope shelter
helps out.
The State building on Riverview Dr is being rented out and used as a Regional Task Force.
The December meeting will be replaced with a social event combined with the Arts Commission.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 pm.
