I. Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board met at Auburn Parks, Arts&Recreation at 2:00 pm.
Tree board members attending were Members Jan Speer, Brooksie Donna Hall, ]ames Tourangeau. Also
present at the meeting were Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly, Horticulturist Richard Valenti, ParKs
Maintenance Worker Trent Mannon and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The February minutes have been motioned forapproval by James Tourangeau, Brooksie Hall seconds.
III, Correspondence/Public Input
Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly received a call regarding some maples on Lea Hill near Village
Square. Board member James Tourangeau noted that folks are not allowed to cut downed trees as he
was told it is a liability issue. Jamie forwarded the request to Parks Maintenanee Manager Mike Miller.
IV. Olii Business
G St Tree Planting —Jamie to re-apply for grant.
V. New Business
A hazardous tree was removed from Lakeland Hills Park as it was within striking distance of a residential
properly.
The Arbor Day tree planting will be held on April 19 at Brannan Park along with the grand opening of the
new Kompan soccer field. Horticulturist Richard Valenti submitted five choices of species and the board
agreed to plant a Wildfire Sourgum.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input
Board member Jan Speer commented the flowering cherry trees on R St SE are budding. They look
decent considering the damage sustained from the ice storm a few years ago:
VII. Department Report(Valenti)
Five cherry trees were removed from Les Gove Park. They will be replaced with Kwanzan Flowering
Cherry trees. The pine trees located next to the Les Gove building will be removed soon.
The Les Gove Crescent project will begin Monday, March 12.
