Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, March 6, 2018
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Community & EveM Center
I. Call to Order 5:30 pm
Present were chair Michael Hassen, members]ames]eyaraj, Wayne Osborne, Lisa Russell, Bailey Stober.
Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly and Parks
Secretary]ulie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The February minutes were moved for approval by Wayne Osborne, ]ames ]eyaraj seconds.
III. Committee Member Input
Board member Lisa Russell attends Monday night yoga and shares the instructors are very good. She
also noted the balloons that staff prepared for the Daddy Daughter Princess Ball were amazing.
IV. Correspondence/Public Input
Director Faber has contacted prior Park Board applicant Mike Pelvo Dean to see if he would be interested
in filling the open position on the board.
V. Old Business
Project updates: March 5 pre-construction meeting for crescent/plaza at Les Gove, to start 3/1Z/18.
Should be complete 5/15/18.
Les Gove Restroom project is in process, to be completed by 4/15/18. The project ties in with the
crescent/plaza projed.
Vietnam memorial project to start 3/12/18. Temporary fencing is up, city is responsible for electrical,
contrador responsible for everything else.
Brannan soccer field — asphalt has been applied, grand opening event to coincide with the Arbor Day tree
planting on 4/19/18.
Rec Riders Outdoor Pursuits - $40,000 grant has been received. We are in process of completing an
additional $60,000 with a focus of getting kids outside. Bicycling, snow shoeing, kayaking and stand up
paddle boarding will be elements of the program.
Scootie Brown fencing has been replaced.
104�h Community Meeting, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly to apply for an RCO grant. We may
combine the community meeting with the April Park Board meeting.
Isaac Evans picnic shelter—Jamie has met with the engineer & architect to discuss repairs.
The agreement between King County and PSE related to the Inter-Urban trail will be completed.
VI. New Business
Clean Sweep 4/21/18 to include new playground at Lakeland Hills Park, landscape work at Auburndale &
Cedar Lanes Parks, pruning, spreading wood chips, removing invasive plants and more.
