CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING
Meeting Minutes of October 8, 2013
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held on October 8, 2013 in
Conference Room 3 located on the Second floor of 25 West Main Street, Auburn, WA. The following
members were in attendance.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Gene Cerino, Chairman Pro Tem Thordarson, and Member Hurlbut
STAFF PRESENT: Assistant Chief Pierson, Civil Service Secretary/Examiner Gail Cannon, Assistant City
Attorney Doug Ruth, Employment Mgr. Geri Hibben, City Attorney Dan Heid
STAFF ABSENT: Chief Lee
ACfION:
Chairman Cerino called the meeting to order at 335 pm.
Approval of the, September 10, 2013 Civil Service Commission meeting minutes:
• Motion to approve meeting minutes made by Member Chairman Pro Tem Thordarson; Second
by Member Hurlbut, Chair Gene Cerino concurs.
Motion approved.
Approval of the REVISED October 3, 2013 Entry Level Police Eligibility List:
• Motion by Member Hurlbut, Second by Chairman Pro Tem Thordarson, Chairman Gene Cerino
concurred.
Eligibility list approved.
Approval of the REVISED October 3, 2013 Lateral Police Eligibility List:
• Motion by Chairman Pro 7em Thordarson; Second by Member Hurlbut, Chair Gene Cerino
concurred.
Eligibility list approved.
Approval by the Commission, denying Lateral Police Officer Candidate Darrell Brown's appeal:
• Motion by Member Hurlbut, Second by Chairman Pro Tem Thordarson, Chairman Gene Cerino
concurred.

Commission finds in favor of candidate Buchholz appeal hearing. Candidate Buchholz added back on
Police Entry Level Eligibility list.
