HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-06-2018 Minutes Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, November 6, 2018 5:30 p.m. Auburn Community & Event Center I. Call to Order 5:30 pm Present were members James Jeyaraj, Mike Palko-Dean, Wayne Osborne, Lisa Russell. Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly, and Secretary Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The October minutes were approved. III. Committee Member Input IV. Correspondence/Public Input V. Old Business VI. New Business Katie Helton Olson is our newest Park Board member, we hope to see her at the December meeting. She has lived in Auburn for two years and works at Boeing in Special Events. The Parks Department is considering making some changes at Game Farm Wilderness Park campground. Raising nightly rate from $25 to $35, adding a maximum length of stay per month with 3 nights out between reservations. The board agrees with these new policies. VII. Department Report (Faber/Kelly) City Council approved the re-construction of the picnic shelter at Isaac Evans park. The shelter will be taller than the previous, construction will begin in a few weeks. The Pioneer Cemetery is being updated via a grant from the State of Washington. Work includes aligning headstones, bringing in crushed rock, new fencing and interpretive panels. The project at the White River Valley Museum will be finished this week. The demo will begin soon at the Arts & Culture Center. Senator Joe Fain toured the facility and we are gearing up for a big ask to the State Legislature and Drew Stokesbary for the project. There will soon be a temporary ice skating rink installed downtown across from City Hall. November 17th tree planting event at Fenster to cast shade on the river. VIII.
