Call to Order The Urban Tree Board met at Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 2:00 pm. Tree board members attending were Board Chair Bryce Landrud, Members Jan Speer, James Tourangeau. Also present at the meeting were Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly, Horticulturist Richard Valenti, Parks Maintenance Worker Trent Mannon and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The January minutes were approved. III. Correspondence/Public Input Board chair Landrud evaluated and wrote a report on a residential tree located near Lakeland Hills Park deeming it “not condemned”. Board member Jan Speer reported that a 150 year old maple tree was removed on 37th St SE. IV. Old Business Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly would like to move forward with the tree planting on G St SE, he will proceed with the Neighborhood Community Matching Grant. Horticulturist Rich Valenti asked about Katie Beaver from King County and suggested planting native trees near Brannan, Isaac Evans, and 277th . Bryce suggested Quaking Aspen trees. Jamie to meet with Katie 3/6/19. V. New Business The board agreed on a Lebanon Cedar tree as the 2019 Arbor Day selection. Trent recommended a south end park for planting; Roegner, Dorothy Bothell or Sunset. VI. Board Recommendations/Input VII. Department Report 12 trees were removed on 277th in the Trail Run neighborhood, they were too close to a house. They will be replaced in a more appropriate location. VIII. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 2:55.
