Old Business: • Veterans Day - Cleaned the area up, put all the flags out. Craig helped with the parade. The cemetery had a service the some Saturday. It was a busy day at the cemetery, a lot of visitors, great end of Summer. The grass is nice and green. • JD Gator - The new diesel gator arrived. The trade in value for the old gator (2008) was $4,500. New gator was $10,000. The old gator was gas, had problems and repairing was expensive. Gators are used at the cemetery because they are small (lighter than a truck) and have turf tires that don't do any damage. Cemetery has 3 gators. • Craig has been working with the Storm Department to dress up a little bit along the road with bigger rockery and fix the storm drain in between the two gates. Currently staff has to line trim and mow which is dangerous. New Business: • Pioneer Cemetery Update - Pioneer Cemetery has interpretive signs, new path that runs from entrance to exit, redid areas around the stones, put new rockery in and have a new gathering area. It was really well done. Still working on having more descriptive signs regarding the parking issue. • Brochures - Cemetery updated and printed more tri fold brochures through GOS Printing (Warren Olson). They are useful to families when they are gathering information. • Decorations - People enjoy the Tree of Remembrance. Cemetery has the Christmas lights up and cemetery staff made Christmas Wreaths to sale and donate all the proceeds to Auburn charities. The wreaths are made from recycled items (wires, ribbons, etc.) picked up at the cemetery. This is the way the cemetery helps out the City with its drive to local charities. • New Quad for Upright Memorials - Cemetery finally did the last Quad for upright memorials in the 9th Addition. The Barnett family own about 12 graves around where the quad was going to be set. This family wanted to have his family on a monument so, Robert Barnett paid to have his wife and son moved. He now has two plots on the quad and cemetery has 6 more to sell. There is a family interested in buying two of them at the moment. They are $6,995 per plot. Barnett bought a Monu-bench and all they wanted was just their name on it because they got other family members adjacent to this quad. The monument was a little over $13,000. Reports: • Budget Update -The last three months have been busy. The general rule is not to do services on Sundays. There have been some exceptions when the cemetery had a Sunday service. Maybe twice in the last 10 years.
