Review of Tuesday, June 11, 2019 Minutes: The June 11, 2019 Minutes were moved for
approval.
Old Business:
• Right of Way Move to North Boundary - The Right of Way move to North Boundary
passed.
New Business:
• Plans for Mausoleum -- Dan Terhaar from Wilbert Precast has been helping with this
project. Exploring the option to use the back north end of the existing Mausoleum as
Phase II.
• Centennial View Point Park - Issues with graffiti. The deer, building and some benches
got painted. There has been some complaints about trees blocking the view. M & O
won't cut trees from the hill side due to the danger of the area. Looking to cut down
trees in the middle but keeping the roots.
• KIR07 News -Mt. View Cemetery in Tacoma - Mt. View Cemetery in Tacoma did a
flower and mementos clean-up. Families were upset after the items were removed
from their loved ones' graves. KIRO 7 News had the story. Some people thought it was
Mt. View in Auburn and there were posting on Facebook and Twitter about the issue
which got handled by the City Director of Administration. This is a good example of
why the cemetery needs to stay consistent with the flower pick-up to avoid a situation
like that.
• Pokemon Go - Pokemon Go is a mobile game. It uses GPS to locate, capture, battle,
and train virtual creatures which appear as if they are in the player's real-world
location. Many parks like the cemetery, are good places to play. The manager of
Auburn Sports & Marine complained about too many people playing and using the
parking lot at Pioneer Cemetery. He wanted the cemetery manager to do something
abouf it but after discussing with the City Attorney it was determined that there is
nothing the cemetery can do.
Reports:
• Budget Update - The comparable of 2018 vs 2019 shows about $40K up from last year.
Graves have good sales this year.
