HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-13-2019 August 13, 2019 MinutesMOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY BOARD MINUTES Tuesday, August 13, 2019 2:00 PM Members Present: Robert Rakos, Jeanne Hicks & Arnie Galli Members Absent: Judi Roland & Warren Olson Staff Present: Craig Hudson & Immer Chevalier Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 2:09 pm by Arnie Galli Review of Tuesday, June 11, 2019 Minutes: The June 11, 2019 Minutes were moved for approval. Old Business: • Right of Way Move to North Boundary - The Right of Way move to North Boundary passed. New Business: • Plans for Mausoleum -- Dan Terhaar from Wilbert Precast has been helping with this project. Exploring the option to use the back north end of the existing Mausoleum as Phase II. • Centennial View Point Park - Issues with graffiti. The deer, building and some benches got painted. There has been some complaints about trees blocking the view. M & O won't cut trees from the hill side due to the danger of the area. Looking to cut down trees in the middle but keeping the roots. • KIR07 News -Mt. View Cemetery in Tacoma - Mt. View Cemetery in Tacoma did a flower and mementos clean-up. Families were upset after the items were removed from their loved ones' graves. KIRO 7 News had the story. Some people thought it was Mt. View in Auburn and there were posting on Facebook and Twitter about the issue which got handled by the City Director of Administration. This is a good example of why the cemetery needs to stay consistent with the flower pick-up to avoid a situation like that. • Pokemon Go - Pokemon Go is a mobile game. It uses GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures which appear as if they are in the player's real-world location. Many parks like the cemetery, are good places to play. The manager of Auburn Sports & Marine complained about too many people playing and using the parking lot at Pioneer Cemetery. He wanted the cemetery manager to do something abouf it but after discussing with the City Attorney it was determined that there is nothing the cemetery can do. Reports: • Budget Update - The comparable of 2018 vs 2019 shows about $40K up from last year. Graves have good sales this year.
