HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-07-2020 Minutes Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, January 7, 2020 5:30 p.m. Auburn Community & Event Center I. Call to Order 5:30 pm Present were members: Michael Hassen (chair), Katie Helton, Wayne Osborne, Mike Palko-Dean, Lisa Russell. Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly and Secretary Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The September minutes were approved. III. Committee Member Input Board member Osborne commented on transition at the turf field at Brannan #1. Park Maintenance is working on correcting. Daryl stated we have two vigorous renters currently booked at $60,000. Board member Mike Palko-Dean attended Scrooge at the Auburn Ave Theater and said it was excellent. He also shared the Festival of Trees at the White River Valley Museum was a record breaking exhibit. IV. Correspondence/Public Input V. Old Business VI. New Business The Arbor Day planting will take place in April at West Auburn Lake, date tbd. VII. Department Report (Faber / Kelly) Drawings are being done for the Alley Project at the Ave Theater and the Arts & Culture Center, to be completed by the end of summer. Ownership of the Auburn Ave Theater will be official February 1. At West Auburn Lake, a bridge, benches and picnic table have been installed. 104th Beach Front project will begin in the summer, as it’s near water the permitting is extensive. The lighting project at Game Farm #4 kicks off February 24. King County has undergone a “Play Equity Coalition” survey including kids and parents. The goal is to get kids outside to play. Auburn was a focus area and this will enable us to qualify for more grants. VIII. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
