MINUTES
WASHINGTON
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Nancy Backus called the special meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in the
Annex Conference Room No. 2 at 1 East Main Street in Auburn. The
purpose of the meeting was to discuss the 2017-2018 General Fund and
2017-2018 All Other Funds (Non General Fund).
II. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. 2017-2018 General Fund
Director Coleman provided a brief overview of work shop #3, in which the
following budgets will be reviewed: Police, Parks, Arts and Recreation,
Community Development, Engineering and the Streets-General Fund.
Chief Lee reviewed the Police Department's organizational chart with
Council and discussed the 2015-2016 objectives and accomplishments,
2017-2018 objectives and the Decision Package for six Commissioned
Police Officers, vehicles and body cameras in 2018.
Director Faber provided Council with an overview of the Parks,Arts and
Recreation Department. He discussed the 2015-2016 objectives and
accomplishments, the 2017-2018 objectives for each division under the
department and upcoming Capital Projects.
Director Tate and Director Gaub provided Council with an overview of the
Community Development and the Engineering departments. They
discussed the 2015-2016 objectives and accomplishments, the 2017-
2018 objectives, the Streets-General Fund Budget, the permitting system,
business and pet licensing, Low Impact Development (LID)
implementation and upcoming Capital Projects.
Council discussed the Reserve Budget, medical costs associated with
inmates at the SCORE facility, Community Center programs, median
maintenance, the Livable Cities Project and the option of implementing an
in-house sidewalk maintenance/repair program.

III. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting
was adjourned at 4:07 p.m.
