Virtual Meeting
I. Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board virtual meeting began at 2:00 pm.
Tree board member attending was Member Tanya Galat. Also present at the meeting were Streets
Supervisor Dan Breen, Vegetation Supervisor Keaka Frank, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly and
Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.

The February minutes were not approved as there was no quorum.

V. New Business (Breen / Frank)
The flowering plum trees/roots on R St SE from 25th to 35th are causing substantial damage and safety
issues to the streets and sidewalk. The city receives complaints on a regular basis. The street is
scheduled for reconstruction in 2022 so trees will most likely need to be removed with a replant in 2022.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input (Galat)
Tanya has requested Parks Maint look at the irrigation at Veterans Memorial Park. She would also like to
complete a planting at a local roundabout in the near future.
VII. Department Report (Kelly)
Mid Sound Fisheries is in the process of removing invasive species at Fenster & Isaac Evans parks.
Funding will be provided by King County.
