Call to Order 5:35 pm Present were Board Chair Michael Hassen, Members; Katie Helton, Wayne Osborne, Mike Palko-Dean, Lisa Russell, Bailey Stober. Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly and Parks Administrative Assistant Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The July & September minutes were approved. III. Committee Member Input IV. Correspondence/Public Input V. Old Business The Dykstra bridge has been updated with more signs to dismount bicycles, planks have been updated. VI. New Business Parks restrooms may soon be playing music to deter loitering, Kent plays “It’s a Small World”. VII. Department Report (Faber/Kelly) Held an amazing and well attended holiday event, Jolly Holiday Lane & Tree Lighting where we raised funds to donate to the Auburn Food Bank. We have received $1,000,000 in grants for the Arts & Culture Center. The work for the upstairs area is nearly ready to go out for bid. The project will use original components of brick, terrazzo, and original wood floors to retain the mid-century appeal. The center will include a coffee shop area, retractable walls for art displays, AV screen and much more. Signage has been installed at Lewis Lake Park, with viewpoints/benches, a bridge built by The Lions Club, picnic area, over-sized porch type swing and a ¼ mile loop trail. The park will be dedicated in April in conjunction with Arbor Day. Synthetic turf will be replaced at Game Farm Park this Spring. Cedar Lanes Park will have a pump track installed and we will partner with Evergreen Bike Alliance. 104th street is in design process with Droll Architects, goes out for bid in Spring. A statewide survey on park use during Covid-19 was completed and will be sent to the board to review. The results show higher than ever numbers of people hiking, using parks, park amenities etc. The Parks Dept. has been very creative with programming virtual fitness, craft take home kits, Senior virtual games, Specialized Recreation safe events. During the summer we held modified summer camps, 400 attended where it’s normally 1,200. VIII. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:17 pm.
