MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Jim Kellycalled the meeting to order at 10:01 a.m. via our Zoom
videoconferencing call.
- ,: -- Members present on the Zoom call included Chair Jim Kelly, Chair Pro Tern Bill
Petersen, Member Stan Laatsch, Member Bob Baggett, and Member Chris Stearns.
Also present was Board Secretary Terry Mendoza and Senior City Staff Attorney
Doug Ruth.
Chair Pro Tem Petersen joined the meeting on time but then his connection went out
temporarily.
II. AGENDA MODIFICATIONS
There were no agenda modifications.
Ill. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Minutes of the May 4, 2021, LEOFF Board Meeting*
Motion by Member Baggett to approve the minutes as published. Second by
Member Laatsch.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4-0
IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. Pending Medical/HearingNision/Dental Claims
No pending Medical/Hearing/Vision/Dental Claims to review.

Request for reimbursement of medical expenses in the amount of
$1,000.00 for the purchase of medical equipment on October 1, 2020.
This item was tabled from the May 4, 2021, meeting pending additional
information on medical necessity.

Request for reimbursement of dental expenses in the amount of
$2,309.50 for services received on February 15, February 17, and
March 12, 2021.. This item was tabled from the May 4, 2021, meeting
pending clarification on the total amount requested for reimbursement.
The requested clarification was provided and reviewed by the Board.
Motion by Member Laatsch to approve the claim as submitted. Second
by Chair Pro Tern Petersen.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5-0
V. NEW BUSINESS

B. Medical/Hearing/Vision/Dental Claims

for services received on May 6, 2021.
Motion by Member Baggett to approve the claim as submitted. Second
by Chair Pro Tern Petersen.

Request for reimbursement of dental expenses in the amount of
$175.00 for services received on May 12, 2021.
Motion by Chair Pro Tem Petersen to approve the claim as submitted.

C. Other Discussion
The Board reviewed the draft changes to Section 9.03 with updated information
based on United Health Care's coverage on Hearing Aids.
Motion by Chair Pro Tern Petersen to approve the changes to Section 9.03.
Second by Member Baggett.
MOTION CARRIED UANIMOUSLY. 5-0
Board Secretary Mendoza will get the changes out to all LEOFF 1 Retirees with
an explanation on the changes.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:16 a.m.
