Tuesday, May 4, 2021

Virtual Meeting
I. Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board virtual meeting began at 2:10 pm
Tree board members attending were Board Chair Bryce Landrud, Members Donna Hall and Tanya Galat.
Also present at the meeting were, Parks Horticulturist Trent Mannon and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The March minutes were approved.

IV. Old Business
Arbor Day: Sitka Spruce to be planted at Lewis Lake. No ceremony due to Covid, still qualifies as Arbor
Day tree planting under Tree City USA guidelines.
Bee City USA: A pollinator garden will be planted at Mary Olson farm, the Auburn Garden Club will install
a new Mason Bee house nearby. It is suggested no spraying be done for the 6 week lifecycle of Mason
Bees.
Heritage Tree: Julie will email the board with two suggestions for Heritage trees.

VI. Board Recommendations/Input
Covid memorial tree to be planted at Isaac Evans park, species to be determined.
VII. Department Report
Trent Mannon has been promoted to Parks Horticulturist, he will continue to meet with the Auburn
Garden Club monthly.
Jamie to follow up on email from citizen concerned about an endangered plant(s) at Cedar Lanes Park.
The 104th Ave project design planning is at 90% completion, most likely next spring before approved
through King County’s environmental permitting process.
