Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Tuesday, May 4, 2021
5:30 p.m.
Virtual Via Zoom
I. Call to Order 5:34 pm
Present were Board Chair Michael Hassen, Members: Katie Helton, Lisa Russell, Wayne Osborne.
Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly, and
Parks Administrative Assistant Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The March minutes were approved.
III. Committee Member Input
5 large trees have been removed from Isaac Evans park due to hazardous conditions. A split rail fence is
being repaired/replaced as well.
The Spray Park at Les Gove will likely remain closed this summer.
IV. Correspondence/Public Input
The Cedar Lanes pump track is in process of being constructed by Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. City
staff will be working with kids ages 5-11 and will store bikes onsite in a shipping container.

The board viewed a YouTube video regarding the successful “Clean Sweep” event in Auburn.

VII. Department Report (Faber/Kelly)
The 104th planning portion is 90% complete, the permitting process is extensive. Work to begin Spring
2022. The project includes a CXT prefab restroom, playground and nature area.
The Arts & Culture Center is undergoing abatement of asbestos and lead based paint. The interior is
being torn out in preparation for construction. The bid process will begin and the projected start date will
be early July.
Summer programming is underway, including the Farmer’s Market, summer camps, Mary Olson Farm,
Summer Sounds, Adopt-a-Park, Squirrely Summer Scavenger Hunt, Peanut Butter & JAM, Happy Paws
and much more.
