HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-03-2021 Minutes Minutes Tuesday, August 3, 2021 2:00 p.m. In Person & Virtual Meeting I. Call to Order The Urban Tree Board meeting began at 2:05 pm Tree board members attending were Board Chair Bryce Landrud, Members Donna Hall and James Tourangeau. Also present at the meeting were, Parks Planner Jamie Kelly and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The May minutes were approved. III. Correspondence/Public Input IV. Old Business The Arbor Day tree (Sitka Spruce) has been planted at Lewis Lake, no ceremony due to Covid. Covid remembrance tree to be planted in the Fall, after species is determined. Bryce reviewed trees on R St SE and would like to proceed with nominating the Red Oak as a Heritage Tree, Julie to contact the owner. Bryce’s other suggestions include a large maple at Fenster, and a Spruce at Neely Mansion. Trent recommends a Red Oak at Veterans Memorial Park for Heritage status. V. New Business VI. Board Recommendations/Input Joyce Peloza and Linda Bielejec will be appointed through City Council Aug 16 and will attend our September 8 meeting as the Tree Board’s newest members. VII. Department Report The Parks Maintenance staff & seasonal temps are finally at a level to catch up with summer tasks. Puget Sound Fisheries is applying for funding from King County for river repair & mitigation work at Fenster Park, Isaac Evans Park and Mary Olson Farm. The project is related to salmon habitat and will span over a two year period. A grant request has been completed to acquire ten acres along Mill Creek in North Auburn which is dominated by Reed Canary grass. Long range plans include e a tree related project. Jamie is working with Parks Maintenance to get funding for an outside vendor to maintain medians, traffic circles and beautification areas. Brooksie to contact Auburn Garden Club to confirm recognition of the AGC through City Council. VIII. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 2:55 pm.
