Old Business: • Seasonal Employees - A seasonal employee was hired after applying for a full-time position opened last year. This full-time position was given to Matthew Tourangeau who worked as a seasonal employee in the past, for a couple of years. This new seasonal employee finished his temporary job the week of Thanksgiving. The cemetery has been approved to hire a 5th Full -Time Employee next year. The announcement will go out March or April of 2022. The cemetery is looking forward to fill out this position because there has been an increase in services. • Homeless Camp - Craig received a voicemail that was left over the weekend from a woman that visited her son at the cemetery. She was crying and very upset about being stalked by a homeless during her visit. Craig returned her call on Monday and asked if she had talked to the police, which she did. The following day she called again to let the office know the homeless was at the cemetery again in the 9th addition. Craig approached the man and talked to him about being at the cemetery grounds and upsetting visitors. This man looked mentally ill and only gave one word answers. Craig contacted the Community Resource person and he was very helpful. The homeless is living across the street from the cemetery and he was given 48 hours to leave the area. Unfortunately, everything he had placed down the hill was left behind and there aren't resources to clean it. Craig is thinking about going down there with the staff to clean up the mess. New Business: 2021 Placement Totals - The cemetery has done 340 placements so far in 2021. The total placements in 2020 was 273. • Revenue / Budget -The cemetery will have some fee increases since everything is going up and they were approved through council. Marker prices with one of our wholesalers are going up about 15%. Most of the granite comes from India and China. Shipping cost has gone up tremendously. • Mausoleum Plans - Craig has been working with Dan Terhaar from Wilbert Precast for the architectural drawings but lately he hasn't heard much from him so at this point he is looking at next year to get going with this project. • Pioneer Cemetery Project -The residents at the apartment complex have been using the cemetery parking lot for an overnight parking. It is important that families have parking when they visit the cemetery. • Christmas Wreaths - All proceeds from the Christmas wreaths go the charity. After Christmas the staff collects all decorations and ribbons that aren't picked up by the families to make next year's wreaths. Reports: • Budget Update - A lot of people have been coming from greater distances to have loved ones at the cemetery. The cemetery is thinking about increasing fees for Non-residents.
