Old Business New Business Department Report (Faber/Kelly/Petty) Summer Camp update: Recreation Manager Brian Petty discussed summer camps including Day Camp, Teens & Trips, Movin on Up, Mix & Match, sports, Adventure Camp, Girls on the Edge, Theater Camp. The Mix & Match camps are new, wildly popular and many are full already. Last year by June 4, we had 780 registrations, this year by June 4 we have 1,531. 34 out of 54 Mix & Match camps are already full. Nine camps are one child away from being full. Brian also shares our newest program, Rec Riders, will begin this spring. We received a $40,000 grant and purchased 30 bicycles and a trailer. 18 people have signed up for the Family Snoqualmie Falls tunnel Mountain bike ride on June 16. We will offer some biking days in upcoming camps as well. We hope to win more grant funding to include paddle boarding and kayaking, making it a true outdoor program. Fee waiver discussion whether $50 is enough for students at schools like Pioneer Elementary, as a large percentage qualify for the free lunch program. Ideas offered were a Parks Foundation which would sponsor children for more expensive activities, or corporate sponsors for more expensive programs such as theater camps. Costco, Boeing, Microsoft have all given to these types of programs in the past. Daryl Faber and Jamie Kelly went to Olympia for a technical review and received feedback from the RCO committee. Jamie will finalize for critical areas and flood plains as well as future restoration areas. We can turn in final application in July. Jamie Kelly shares that long time Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller is retiring June 30. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
