Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
Minutes
Wednesday, September 9, 2020
5:30 p.m.
Virtual Via Zoom
Call to Order 5:35 pm
Present were members: Katie Helton, Lisa Russell. Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning Manager Jamie Kelly and Parks Administrative Assistant Julie
Mehl. Also present was Seattle resident Rob Davis.
Minutes
The previous minutes were not approved as there was no quorum.
Committee Member Input
Correspondence/Public Input
Rob Davis attended the meeting to express concerns about safety at the Dykstra Footbridge.
Old Business
New Business
Two grants have been submitted; one for a bridge connecting Game Farm Park to Game Farm Wilderness Park, the other for the development of Jacobson Tree Farm.
Department Report (Faber)
A new program called “Between the Bell” will be offered for families who need help with the current virtual school situation. We are also starting some virtual fitness classes.
Staff is brainstorming ideas for alternative Veterans Day Parade ideas.
Director Faber suggests Park Board members attend the next virtual study session as he will be presenting Parks updates.
