Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board meeting began at 2:15 pm
Tree board members attending were Board Chair Bryce Landrud, Members Linda Bielejec and Joyce Peloza. Also present at the meeting were, Trent Mannon from Parks Maint, and Parks Secretary
Julie Mehl.
Minutes
The August minutes were not approved as there was no quorum.
Correspondence/Public Input
Old Business
The board discussed tree species for wind storm replacement trees. Tulip trees and River Birch were considered, 10 – 15 replacement trees will be planted.
The Covid memorial tree species discussed were Weeping Willow (a symbol of grief), Oak or deciduous. Trent would like to plant the tree off the pathway at Les Gove Park.
V. New Business
The board welcomed new members Linda Bielejec and Joyce Peloza. Bryce gave them an overview of board happenings including the Arbor Day tree planting, Heritage Tree nominations, Tree
City USA designation and Auburn Garden Club Mason Bee Houses.
Board Recommendations/Input
Linda recommended a maple tree on Lea Hill located on 112th St for Heritage status. Bryce to view.
Julie left a voicemail with the owners of the Oak on R St SE and they didn’t return the call.
Department Report
Fall clean up is underway in the Parks Maintenance department. Leaf pick up, applying pre-emergent and pruning are priorities.
