TRANSPORTATION
ADVISORY BOARD
July 7, 2021
MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER – 5:30 P.M.
Chairman Waylon Menzia called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. held virtually and
telephonically.
Per Governor Inslee's Emergency Proclamation 20-05 and 20-28 et. seq. and Stay Safe-Stay
Healthy, the City of Auburn is prohibited from holding in-person meetings at this time.
City of Auburn Resolution No. 5581, designates City of Auburn meeting locations for all Regular,
Special and Study Session Meetings of the City Council and of the Committees, Boards and
Commissions of the City as Virtual Locations until Washington’s Governor authorizes local
governments to conduct in-person meetings.

II. ROLL CALL (Sherwin)
Committee members present were Waylon Menzia, Dennis Grad (Tardy), Peter Di Turi, Cynthia
Rapier, Sara Shaw, Christian Faltenberger, Cheryl Rakes, David Jensen, and Steve Carstens.
Those not present were Riley Peterson (unexcused), Jeanette Miller (excused), Michael Harbin
(excused), and Pamela Gunderson (unexcused). Also present during the meeting were: Public
Works Director Ingrid Gaub, Assistant Director/City Engineer Jacob Sweeting, and Office Assistant,
Angie Sherwin. Sound Transit staff in attendance included; Andrew Austin and Katie Drewel.
III. DISCUSSION AND INFORMATION
SOUND TRANSIT RE-ALIGNMENT STUDY (Gaub, Sound Transit)
Andrew Austin and Katie Drewel with Sound Transit presented the 2021 Sound Transit Update.
• System Expansion & the Auburn Parking and Access Improvements Project (PDF)
• Discuss the 2021 Sound Transit realignment process to adjust project plans and schedules
• Board members expressed general concern regarding the project costs and schedules.
Board members indicated general support for the Sound Transit Chair’s proposal to make
the Auburn Station garage project a Tier 1 project and disappointment in the potential delay
of the work but an understanding of why the delay is occurring.
IV. ADJOURNMENT –
There being no further business to come before the Transportation Advisory Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
