SANITARY SEWER NOTES
1. All workmanship and materials shall conform to the City
of Auburn's requirements and specification.
2. Standard Specifications Shall be 1981 APWA as modified
by the City of Auburn.
3. A copy of these approved plans shall be on site during
construction.
4. Prior to starting construction, the contractor shall
call ONE CALL (1-800-424-5555) for utility locations
(water, sanitary sewer, gas, power, telephone and
television).
5. Locations of existing utilities are approximate. It
shall be the contractor's responsibility to determine
the true elevations and locations so as to avoid damage
or disturbance during construction.
6. Existing pavement surfaces shall be sawcut full depth
with straight, uniform edges. All joints between the
new and original pavement surfaces shall be pointed
with asphalt emulsion (CSS-1).
7. Electric and telephone lines shall be in a trench with
a minimum horizontal separation from other utilities
(sewer, water, storm) of 5 feet.
8. All construction surveying for extensions of public
facilities shall be done under the direction of a
licensed land surveyor or a licensed professional civil
engineer.
9. During construction, all public streets adjacent to
this project shall be kept clean of all material
deposits resulting from on -site construction, as
directed by the City.
10. Sewer lines shall be laid to the grades and elevations
shown on the drawings.
11. Side sewer shall be installed from the city sewer main
a minimum 6" in diameter with a 1% minimum slope.
12. Side sewers shall be installed, where required by the
engineer, using commercially manufactured tees and
shall be plugged with watertight plug. All joints
shall be approved rubber gasketed joints. (The
location of the side sewers shall be marked at the end
of the line inside property by a pressure treated 2x4,
four feet long buried in the ground a distance of 3
feet. The lower end shall have a 2x4 cleat nailed to
it to prevent withdrawal of the stake. The exposed 1
foot shall be pointed traffic yellow and the depth to
the side sewer or tee shall be indicated in black paint
on the 2x4). In addition, the letter "S", 2 inches
high, shall be neatly imprinted in the top of the curb
before the concrete hardens to designate the side sewer
location .
13. Location of side sewers shown ore approximate only and
may be changed as required during construction upon
authorization of city. contractor shall notify
engineer when exact locations are determined-
14. Contractor shall obtain any necessary side sewer
permits from the City of Auburn prior to construction.
15, It shall be the contractor's responsibility to insure
that no conflicts occur between sanitary sewer lines
and proposed or existing storm lines prior to
construction.
16. All connections of SDR 35 PVC pipe to manholes shall be
made by using A.C. or GPK manhole adaptors, or approved
equal.
17, the maximum laying lengths shall not exceed 12 feet 6
inches for SDR 35 pipe.
18. Bedding for PVC pipe shall be 5/8 inch minus crushed
rock, 4 inches under 6 inches minimum over the pipe.
19. All pipe trench backfill material shall be Class "A"
Bank Run Gravel modified by the City of Auburn.

10. Pipe for watermains shall be ductile iron meeting ANSI
Specifications A-21.51 of latest revisions and shall be
thickness Class 52. Pipe shall be cement mortor lined,
"n accordance with ANSI Specification A-21-4 of latest
revision.
11. All watermains shall have a minimum cover of 42 inches.
12. All valves for waterlines shall be resilient wedge gate
valves.
13- Joints, except where otherwise required or shown on the
drawings, shall be either mechanical bolted type, or
push on rubber ring gasket type, conforming to American
National Standard A-21.11.
14. Hydrostatic tests on the new pipe line shall be made in
accordance with the "Procedure for Water -Pressure
Testing Water Lines" and the latest provisions of AWWA
C 600, except as modified herein. All equipment
necessary to make the test shall be furnished by the
contractor, and the contractor shall conduct all tests
under the supervision of the engineer. Pressure tests
shall be made on all piping and appurtenances installed
under this contract, including all connections to
existing mains at a minimum test pressure of 200 psi.
15. Disinfection of the new water system shall be required
prior to connection to the latest provisions of AWWA C
601.
16. Installation of corporate stops, water services, lines
and meters shall be per City of Auburn standard
details.
17. Services shall be 3/4" type K copper tubing, City of
Auburn to install water meters.
18. Blocking for vertical horizontal bends shall be per
City of Auburn Standard details.
19. Fire hydrant assemblies shall conform to City of Auburn
standard detail.
20. Contractor shall obtain any necessary water meter
permits from the City of Auburn prior to const•uction.
21. All valve boxes in public right-of-way or easements
shall be adjusted to final grade after final paving is
complete.
22. Ductile iron pipes shall not be deflected more than 4'
per joint.
