Clean S weep 2023 will focus on clean-up, environmental restoration, and beautification efforts in A uburn. Volunteer groups will work on general clean-up, landscaping, planting, weeding and other projects at various parks, trails, and other locations around Auburn. Volunteers can either choose to participate in a specific project or can ask to be assigned to any project, in which case your group will be assigned where the most volunteer support is needed. Volunteers commence project tasks PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Celebrate Earth Day by participating in the City’s largest spring clean-up! Clean Sweep 2023 will focus on clean-up, environmental restoration, and beautification efforts in Auburn. Volunteer groups will work on general clean-up, landscaping, planting, weeding and other projects at various parks, trails, and other locations around Auburn. Volunteers can either choose to participate in a specific project or can ask to be assigned to any project, in which case your group will be assigned where the most volunteer support is needed. UPON ARRIVAL When you arrive, check in with the Project Lead on-site and then gather for an introduction. Once we are on the same page with safety and protocols for the day, we will dive into the on-site project. WHAT TO BRING: • Roster of volunteers with waiver (use attached form) • Tools based on volunteer assignment (to be determined once registered) • Gardening or work gloves CITY WILL PROVIDE: • Instruction Sheets for projects at each location • Garbage Bags • Other project materials as may be needed REQUIREMENTS TO REMEMBER: • Please do not sign up or attend an event if you have been experiencing any of the following symptoms: Cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fever, chills, shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of smell or taste, if anyone in your household suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19, or if you have been exposed to COVID-19 and have not yet received a negative test result. • All volunteers must sign a volunteer waiver prior to beginning work PARKING: Parking will be available near each project location. RESTROOMS: Park restrooms will open or port-o-lets will be available at each project site. Page 5 of 6 SAFTEY ITEMS TO REMEBER: Litter pick up: 1. Always wear gloves when picking up litter. Never pick up glass or discarded needles with your hands; use a litter picker or other tool. Have a “sharps container” available for needles and similar discarded items (this can be as simple as an empty coffee can with a plastic lid). Personnel Safety: 1. For staffed sites: Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Staff will have a first aid kit available for emergency use. 2. Always be sure to have adequate sun protection available on hot sunny days. Items to consider are: sunscreen, headgear, bring plenty of water for adequate hydration. ORGANIZATION IDENTIFICATION: We encourage your group, service club, organization, family, or business to wear t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, or other clothing that identifies your group.
