A .A pproval of F ebruary 2nd, 2023 Minutes A pproval of minutes from February 2, 2023 – Motion to approve by Vice Chair Mulenga; S econd by Member Helms. Motion passed. V.C O M M IT T E E RE P O RT S /E V E NT S None V I .D IS C US S I O N IT E M S A .NL C Update - Distribute Packets to attendees (including letter to school for absebce) - Please have parents/guardians review and sign where indicated - Parents/guardians are welcome to call, or email me with any concerns - Email sent to schools regarding absences Page 1 of 3Page 2 of 4 i. Chair Menzia informed those traveling to review items in Travel Packets to attendees (including letter to school for absence). ii. Chair Menzia reminded the attendees to have parents/guardians review and sign where indicated and also mentioned that parents/guardians should call, or email Melissa with any concerns. iii. Melissa has emailed schools regarding absences. iv. K eisha Taylor informed the attendees to meet at City Hall by 6:30A M on March 25 in order to get to the airport on time. B .Mayor's Podcast - Would A J C C like to be a part of one of Mayor's Podcasts? - Due to limited space, we can only have 3 members at once - Topics/questions i. Chair Menzia asked if anyone on the A J C C would like to be a part of one of Mayor's Podcasts – Chair Menzia; Vice Chair Mulenga; and Member P ark are willing to go on the podcast. ii. P articipants will come up with a list of topics/questions. D M J eyaraj suggested that participants can talk about what they are going to do after high school; Chair Menzia asked for some ideas on how youth can get involved with the community and also ways youth can help build community; Vice Chair Mulenga suggested talking about racial equity and how the A J C C have applied their skills from A J C C; Member Park suggested talking about their individual experiences on the A J C C. C.J unior City Council Collaborating with Auburn Youth Council i. K eisha Taylor asked if A J C C would want to help with concession stands on major events and other public events along with the Auburn Youth Council ii. The concession stand proceeds go towards local non-profit organizations and towards scholarships for youth in need iii. A J C C would also be involved in the decision making process on how to distribute the funds iv. Chair Menzia said he would help facilitate getting people to volunteer for concession stands and asked if there are other collaboration opportunities with AYC. K eisha mentioned some other ideas for the A J C C to consider. D.Update from Deputy Mayor J ames J eyaraj Page 2 of 3Page 3 of 4 i. D M J eyaraj reported that the City Council, Mayor and staff visited Olympia to visit with legislators and learn about the issues facing the current legislative session. ii. A J C C Advisory B oard: Member Helms volunteered to bring the idea to groups at Auburn High School. Chair Menzia reminded the A J C C to recruit new members to replace the four members that are aging out of the A J C C. iii. The A J C C has a desire to interview potential members to put forward as nominees to the Mayor and for approval by the Auburn City Council.
