I. CALL TO ORDER Deputy Mayor Jeyaraj called the meeting to order at 6:13 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street. ' II. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION A. Public Participation The City Council Meeting was held in person and virtually. B. Roll Call Councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor Jeyaraj, Bob Baggett, Larry Brown, Robyn Mulenga, and Cheryl Rakes. Councilmembers Kate Baldwin, and Yolonda Trout-Manuel were excused. Mayor Nancy Backus and the following staff members present included: Acting City Attorney Harry Boesche,Assistant Chief of Police Samuel . Betz,Assistant Director of Community Development Jason Krum, Director of Finance Jamie Thomas, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Brenda Goodson-Moore, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Analyst Kia McGlone,Airport Manager Tim Mensonides,Arts and Events Manager Julie Krueger, Special Events Coordinator Kristy Pachciarz, Special Events and Farmers Market Coordinator Amanda Valdez, Education Curator Mallory Genauer, and City Clerk Shawn Campbell. III. AGENDA MODIFICATIONS There were no agenda modifications. IV. ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS,AND PRESENTATIONS A. REDI Report Out Councilmember Brown provided an update on the REDI Program. Page 1 of 3 V. AGENDA ITEMS FOR COUNCIL DISCUSSION A. Special Focus Area Assignment Discussion(Council) Councilmember Brown asked the current Councilmembers to share their interests in Special Focus Area assignments. The Council will bring this item back to the January 2, 2024, City Council Meeting. B. 3rd Quarter 2023 Financial Update (Thomas)(20 Minutes) Director Thomas provided Council with an overview of the 3rd Quarter 2023 Financial Updated including the General Fund Revenue Overview, the Tax Revenue, Licenses and Permit Fee Revenue, Intergovernmental Revenue, charges for services, General Fund Expenditures,ARPA Update, and Non-General Fund highlights. VI. MUNICIPAL SERVICES DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Auburn Symphony Orchestra Annual Report(Faber)(15 Minutes) Manager Krueger introduced Wesley Schultz, Susan Johnson, and Rachel Perry who provided the Council with the 2022-2023 Annual Report including, the K-12 program, grant funding for new staff, education and community engagement, fundraising, subscribers, pay what you can tickets, the Link Up Program, and shared a short video of a performance. B. City of Auburn 2023 Event Recap (Faber)(30 Minutes) Manager Krueger, Coordinator Valdez, Coordinator Pachciarz, Director Goodson-Moore,Analyst McGlone, Manager Mensonides, and Curator Genauer provided Council with a presentation on the 2023 Special Events Recap including Peter Cotton Trail event, Clean Sweep, PetPalooza and Dog Trot,Auburn Farmers Market, Celebrating Pride event, Juneteenth, KidsDay, 4th of July event,Airport Day, Summer Sound and Kids Summer Stage series, Friday Night Flicks, LUSIO Lights Festival, Hops and Crops Music and Beer Festival. They also presented on the Halloween Harvest Festival & Les Gove Park Trunk-or-Treat, Veterans Day Parade & Observation, and the Santa Parade and Tree Lighting. They thanked all the supporting staff for their support of the 2023 Events. Council discussed the work put in by staff,the time to plan events, and shared their appreciation of the time and work on the events. Page 2 of 3 VII. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 7:28 p.m. APPROVED this 18th day of December 2023.
