CALL TO ORDER Mayor Nancy Backus called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street. I I. LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT III. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION • 1. Public Participation The City Council Meeting was held in person and virtually. A. Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Backus led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance. IV. ROLL CALL Councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor Larry Brown, Hanan Amer, Kate Baldwin, Cheryl Rakes, Clinton Taylor, Tracy Taylor, and Yolonda Trout- Manuel. Mayor Nancy Backus and the following staff members present included: Acting City Attorney Harry Boesche, Chief of Police Mark Caillier, Director of Public Works Ingrid Gaub, Director of Parks,Arts, and Recreation Daryl Faber,Arts and Events Manager Julie Krueger, Director of Equity, and Inclusion Brenda Goodson-Moore, Director of Human Resources and Risk Management Candis Martinson,Assistant Director of Community Development Jason Krum, Business Systems Analyst Jonathan Barbano, Deputy City Clerk Rebecca Wood-Pollock, and City Clerk Shawn Campbell. • V. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Department Overview- Parks,Arts, and Recreation (Faber) (30 Minutes) Director Faber and Manager Krueger provided Council with a presentation . on the Parks,Arts, and Recreation Department including the organizational structure, their role in the community, the 2022 General Fund expenditures, funding structure, and the different divisions of the Department. They Page 1 of 2 discussed community events and classes,the Postmark Center for the Arts, recreation programs and facility rentals, the Rec Teen Center, the Senior Activity Center and senior resources, the White River Valley Museum and Mary Olson Farm, the Auburn Golf Course, Park Maintenance, new and future projects, Mountain View Cemetery, advisory boards, and volunteer opportunities. Council discussed class and activity fees, free activities offered, the Auburn Avenue Theater, the Senior Center volunteer lunch, the bike program, special needs accommodations, Gaines Park, Forest Villa Tot Lot, a bike bus program, community bike rides, and dog parks. B. Department Overview Public Works (Gaub)(30 Minutes) Director Gaub provided Council with a presentation of the Public Works Department including a video which shared an overview of the Department, Airport services, Engineering services and its sub-divisions, Maintenance and Operations services, the infrastructure management cycle, budgeted expenditures, revenue sources, the design and construction process,the maintenance and operations process, and Council interaction. Council discussed the water treatment facilities tours, and equipment rentals. VI. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned at 7:06 p.m. APPROVED this 20th day of February, 2024. X."
