WASHINGTON MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Nancy, Backus called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the
Council Chambers of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street.

III. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
1. Public Participation
The City Council Meeting was held in person and virtually.
A. Pledge of Allegiance
Mayor Backus led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
IV. ROLL CALL
Councilmembers present: Deputy Mayor Larry Brown, Hanan Amer, Cheryl
Rakes, Clinton Taylor, Tracy Taylor, and Yolonda Trout-Manuel.
Councilmember Kate Baldwin was excused.
Mayor Nancy Backus and the following staff members present included:
Acting City Attorney Harry Boesche, Chief of Police Mark Caillier, Director
of Administration Dana Hinman, Assistant Director of Community
Development Jason Krum, Business Systems Analyst Chrissy Malave,
Real Estate Manager Josh Arndt, Deputy City Clerk Rebecca Wood-
Pollock, and City Clerk Shawn Campbell.
V. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Department Overview-Administration (Hinman) (30 Minutes)
Director Hinman provided Council with a presentation on the Administration
Department including the organizational chart, an overview of the
Multimedia and Communications, Facilities, and Emergency Management
divisions, and other responsibilities.

B. Department Overview- Legal (Boesche)(30 Minutes)
Acting City Attorney Boesche provided Council with a presentation on the
Legal Department including an overview of the Civil, City Clerk, Real
Estate, and Prosecution divisions, personnel, statistics, downtown
beautification and other special projects, Code Enforcement and other civil
infractions, domestic violence-related cases and resources, and an
overview of Auburn Community Court.
Council discussed downtown wrapped utility box artwork and involvement
of the Arts Commission, pet relief areas, tree lighting, King County
domestic violence advocate resources, recidivism rates in Community
Court, the U-Visa certification process, public records requests, and body
camera footage redactions.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, the
meeting was adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
