N.E., Auburn, WA 98002 (253) 931-3026 AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES For June 4, 1998 Persons in Attendance: ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS Chairperson Dan Rollins, Joe DeJoie, Bud Buchanan, Rodger Campbell. CITY ADMINISTRA nON John Anderson--Airport Director OTHERS Jamelle Garcia, Alan Turnidge, John Gallo, Burdette Skinner, Randall Snodgrass, Cal Hunziker, Gerald Coon 7:30 AM meeting called to order by Chairperson Dan Rollins. A general discussion took place among the Board Members, staff and persons present with regards to the need for the Airport to develop minimum standards for persons conducting commercial operations at the Airport. Information previously sent to the Board was discussed. It included a minimum standards format that Paine Field recently adopted. It was generally agreed that this would be a good starting point for Auburn's process, modifying it to suit it's unique needs. AirPort Director John Anderson indicated that it is important that this process take into consideration the needs of all user groups at the Airport. With this in mind he asked the Board for its recommendation that staff proceed with the formation of an advisory group, to participate in this process, made up of persons representing all fractions of user groups at the Airport. Their recommendation along with staff s suggestions would be presented to the Municipal Services Council Committee at their June 15th meeting, at which time the Committee's concurrence to proceed would be requested. The Airport Advisory Board unanimously gave their recommendation to proceed in this manner. Other comments and concerns included a concern over the potential for excessive insurance requirements, the need for a rationale and mission statement preceeding the standards, concerns over independant instructors and mechanics being squeezed off the field, and the need for accurate minutes of meetings held to develop minimum standards and their availability to those interested in the process. The possibility of borrowing a student from GRCC's court reporter course to take minutes was discussed. Meeting adjourned around 9: 15 a.m.
