AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
JUNE 22, 1999
ITEM 1. GPS Approach Update. Airport Director Anderson reported that the City
had employed a consulting firm to collect information and do necessary survey work
that would then be given to the FAA for their drafting a GPS instrument approach
for Auburn Airport. This draft would then be circulated to the appropriate FAA
departments prior to implementation.
ITEM 2. Hangar Roof Repairs. It was reported that the financing package for the
new hangars included funding for the replacement of the hangar roofs that were not
done in 1998. The intention is that this be done prior to winter.
ITEM 3. Remote Transmitter Receiver. It was reported that Airport staff was
continuing to work with the.FAA in order to have an RTR located at the Airport.
The main ingredient to making this happen is the availability of FAA funding.
More information would be available after the FAA's budget meeting in July.
Item 4. Hangar Construction Status. Planning Director Paul Krauss reported that
the new hangar project was still on track and the infrastructure construction
progressing. He reported that two elements had to be met in order to convince the
City Council to approve the financing of this project. Number one that there is a
large demand for the hangars and that they would be filled with tenants shortly
after completion. Number two that they would pay for themselves. He reported
that pre-lease agreements would be mailed out shortly for tenants who wanted to get
on a list for the new hangars and indicated that a significant amount of agreements
were submitted, it would help show the Council the demand for hangars is present.
Other items discussed included, that the Street Department had agreed to sweep the
Airport more frequently, a grant application had been submitted to the State
Aviation Division for tree removal and fencing on the west side of the runway, that a
new state of the art computer weather system was on order for pilots use, and that
the July 1st meeting was cancelled. Chairman Dan Rollins will get with Airport staff
to schedule a night meeting in its place at a date, time, and location to be announced
later.
Meeting adjourned.
