Item 1. NEW AAB MEMBER INTRODUCTION. Mr. Start Brown, a long
time aircraft owner and te.~_nt at Auburn Municipal Airport was
introduced. The Mayor has appointed him to fill the position on the Board
vacated by John Fleck. .
ITEM 2. AIRLIFt NORTHWEST OPERATIONS. John Anderson
indicated that Airlift Northwest began u_qing the Airport for transporting
medical casualties to Seattle based hospitals. It was reported that the heli-
pad at the north fire station had become built up around to the point that
operations there were no longer safe.
ITEM 3. GRANT FOR TREE REMOVAL AND WEST-SIDE FENCING.
It was reported that the Airport had received a grant from the Washington
State Division of Aviation in the amount of $41,400. The funds will be used
to remove trees in a safety area on the west side of the runway and to install
security fencing.
ITEM 4. REGIONAL RETENTION PROJECT. A report was made by
Tim Carlaw, the City's Storm Water Engineer, on the construction of a
regional storm water retention site at the Airport. It will consist of a number
of ponds that will retain water until there is sufficient capacity to
accommodate it down steam. The ponds will supply storage of water caused
by run off from new construction on and off Airport property. The Federal
Aviation Administration has been consulted during the planning of this
project to insure compliance with safety standards.
ITEM 5. AAB MEETING SCI-[EDULE. The Board discussed the
rescheduling of their meeting times that would better fit into all of their
schedules. They decided to meet the third Wednesdays of each month at 7:30
a.m. in City Hall. They also will schedule two night meetings per year in
order to encourage participation from the general public and Airport
tenants.
ITEM 6. HANGAR ROOFS REPLACEMENT AND NEW HANGAR
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE. It was reported that a recommendation would
be made to the Municipal Services Committee and fall Council, at their
meetings on September 20th, to proceed with the replacement of hangar roofs
and construction of the new hangar project.
ITEM 7. GENERAL DISCUSSION. Discussion took place on topics
including options for fining or replacing the faulty gate by TAS, a report that
there was a leak under the wall to Valley Fliers end room, and a report was
made that the Auburn Police Department had a~reed to patrol the Airport
more often in the future.
