HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-18-2005 Airport Advisory Board Meeting Minutes January 18, 2005 8:00 AM, (Moved to Northwest Aviation Classroom 1) Introductions: Members and Guest Retirement of prior Members and Introduction of New Members Please Sign In Attendance: Call to Order: Acting Chairman- There being a quorum the Chairman of the AAB called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Approval of Minutes Approve December 2004 AAB minutes - a motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed that the minutes of the December 21,2004 meeting minutes be approved at this time. Old Business: 1. Airport Management & Operations update- a. Gate operators - East entrance automated gate is still hanging up from time to time. Automated Gates Company is to make a proposal to fix the problem. b. Update on instrument approach status - The FAA has backed off from some of the items the required for the survey. The remaining obstruction survey cost estimate is $65,000.00. The airport does have State grant money available for the survey of $10,000.00. Research will be conducted to see how other similar airports have complied with the FAA survey. Also Mr. Garcia has talked and corresponded with the City and the City Washington DC representatives to advise them of the situation and how they might be able to help. c. Gate key access validation process to begin in January 2005 and be completed by March 31,2005. Tenants are receptive to the program and understand the how and why this has been implemented. d. Hangars Unlimited still no update on beginning of development e. Storm water fees for the airport. Storm water has given the Airport the rates per commercial land lease tenants and AMG will be billing those out on a monthly basis to the tenants. The tenants will then remit to the City of Auburn. Issued Closed 2. Airport Security Status - there was one aircraft at the south end of the airport that had been tampered with, but no major damage and nothing was missing just some slight damage to the aircraft door. 3. Delinquent Tenant Account status -late notices were mailed, currently there are no delinquent accounts past 30 days. 4. Airport and Aviation outreach a. Planning and discussions have begun on a separate event from Good Old Days. A meeting was conducted with Vic Johnson of Go Lightly Balloon at which he presented a concept of a two-day aviation celebration. 5. Rules and Regulations - No meeting in January, rescheduled for February 6. Request for Proposals - One RFP should be ready for mailing by the end of the month 7. Short-term land rental- Rental agreement to be presented to the City for review of the rental between Tom Matson Dodge and the Airport. 8. Proposed system for waiting list and policy has begun (Issue Closed) 9. Lease rates for commercial tenants' effective 2005 notices have been mailed. (issued Closed) Page 1 0/2 10. Discussion on possible closure of airport office on Sunday. After reviewing the issue AMG has consider an alternative to include Customer Service Reps (line guy) to 7 days a week to enhance all services and maintenance at the airport (Issue Closed) 11. Advisory members to fill out application and complete a background check a. Nominations for filing a vacancy for Mr. Pautz position b. Other nominations for expiring terms 12. Open hangars headers have been identified as a potential area of concern- City staff has inspected the affected hangar and a report is due out shortly. 13. Storm water has enhanced north end control of water flow and additional set the Green River pumping station to begin pumping sooner. This will mitigate the high water level in extreme storms. (Issued Closed) 14. Issue regarding north storage unit rented by Roland Johnson (Issue Closed) 15. December 2004 newsletter will be mailed with new coupons next week. 16. Back billing for storm water to land lease owners will also be mail advising them of the back bill and the amount for 2005 17. Vacant hangars - Currently there are 3 open t-hangars and 2 north end closed hangars vacant. The outside tie downs remain unchanged, although we did recover 3 tenants that were vacating but when they heard the rate had been lowered they decided to stay.
