Motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed that the minutes of June 2006 meeting minutes are approved at this time. Old Business Update on instrument approach, Garcia stated that all the information to date still says that Auburn Airport is scheduled for a daytime GPS approach with circling minimums for May 2007. Coleman stated that she would write a follow up letter confirming what was said between the FAA, Garcia and herself at the May 25th meeting as previously reported in June 20th 2006 minutes. Hangar row 9 & 10 update on roof leaks. Three bids were handed in the previous meeting for review and recommendations. Shipman had stated that different conclusions from the estimates confirmed previous conclusions years before since the hangars were built. No one roofer can agree on the same problem for the leaks. This round of estimates ranged from $3,000.00 to $80,000.00 for repairs. Tom Matson suggested a topcoat be sprayed on top sealing all possible leaks. Shipman received the information from Matson and will call for further details. Mayor appointed Auburn Airport Master Business Planning Committee. Garcia stated that a committee had been formed with local business owners and airport tenants to recommend future planning of business and revenue uses of the Airport. AN-2 update- Garcia stated that we had six and now down to two and talked to Joe Beck at legal with one confirmed sale and the other pending. Expecting that all AN-2 will be removed from the airport by the end of August 2006. Airport Business license compliance. Shipman confirmed with code enforcement that all known businesses do have proper business licenses. Southwest property for sale. Garcia stated that talks with the FAA concluded they wouldn't be interested in the property for the airport until the year 2010. Traffic lane concept. Garcia said an idea for a traffic lane concept is being looked at to be able to curb driving on the taxiway. Bauermeister asked why should the airport spend money while a rule for this is currently in effect. Garcia said that we have no way of enforcing the rules and regulations. More discussion continued and it was concluded that AMG is to come up with a policy of enforcement that Coleman will then take through Councilor directly to the Mayor for enactment to curb any driving on the west side of all hangar rows and taxi ways. Helicopter meeting. Garcia stated that a meeting between helicopter flight schools and fixed wing schools that use the Airport for practice took place in May. Also in attendance were three FAA representatives. The objective was to figure out how the two can operate while not compromising safety. Major conclusion was that more communication needed to happen on movement and actions. Possible markings would be painted on the taxiways and intersections identifying to the helicopters the Airports recommended areas of approach practice points. AAB stated that seems like a viable solution for the problem. Tom Matson suggested that a flyer be mailed and handed out to local pilots. Battery back-up for gate system at main office. Garcia stated that the Airport would like to have a battery backup for one gate on the airport since all are controlled electrically. Prices came in at $1,775.00 and $1931.00. Possible power discussion brought up solar power; Bauermeister is to look into that aspect. No decision has been made. Exit gate East Side. Garcia stated that with the new construction and removal of old gate next to NW hangars a new gate would need to be erected. Ideas have been discussed but no designs as of yet. One of the issues is the lack of room for vehicles exiting onto the roadway. Vodry has proposed an entry and exit gate be installed or the possibility of no gate. Vodry stated that he has Automated Gates working on the design. It was stated that an exit gate at minimum must be installed. Highway 167 signs. Garcia stated Shipman has been working with DOT for the installation of an Airport sign on HWY 167. Shipman stated that according to DOT the signs have been made and will be installed as the widening project on Hwy 167 continues. Airport directional signs. Garcia proposed that more signs be placed along City streets directing people to the airport. Possibly signs hanging from signal posts. Shipman has a meeting with a Way Finding Committee Member to discuss future plans. West Side Property Access Road: Garcia along with Coleman stated that the West property access road has had the permits issued and is signed off awaiting start of construction. Awaiting word from ICON, Coleman stated. New Business: No New business. Open discussion: Vodry from Northwest Hangars began to discuss an easement for his property adjacent to Auburn Flight Maintenance, Coleman spoke and said that discussion for the easement is between two businesses and not the Airport and is not part of the AAB responsibilities. The next meeting of the AAB will be August 15th 2006 at 8:00 a.m. at Northwest Aviation College. There being no other business the meeting was adjourned at 7:04 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Jamelle R. Garcia AMG, on behalf of the City of Auburn
