HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-20-2007Minutes of the Auburn Airport Advisory Committee February 20, 2007 (Corrected) 8:00 a.m. Northwest Aviation College Classroom 1 Chair: Rodger Campbell Attendance: "`Rodger Campbell *Bob Myers "`Tom Matson "Lee Potter Jamelle Garcia Don Eiler Michael Shipman Athal Williams Gary Miller John Vodry Drew Anderson * Denotes AAB Member Called to order at 0800 Introduction were made and the AAB welcome the new AOPA airport volunteer Gary Miller Approval of minutes- First order of business was to approve November 2006 minutes. Motion was made, seconded and was unanimously passed that the minutes of November 21, 2006 meeting are approved at this time. Old Business Mr. Garcia gave a report on the status of the instrument approach procedure for the Auburn airport. He report that he had contacted MR. Mitch at the FAA three time and finally received an email back stating that the approach is now schedule for July 5, 2007 and is in review at Oklahoma City. No reason for the delay or other comment was included in the email. Shelley and Jamelle will follow up. Mr. Shipman reported that progress is moving forward on hangar rows 9 and 10. The City received a scope of service for the contract management of the repair process which was recommend by the consultants hired to evaluate the problem. The work will begin after the consultants select from the City small works rooster. Mr. Garcia reported the FAA continues to work on the airplane and rotorcraft traffic patterns being reviewed for possible suggestions and solutions to enhance safety and noise reduction. Staff was advised by the FAA that the City can adopt traffic pattern and implement them. FAA will only recommend. Mr. Shipman reported that the Hangars Unlimited construction is behind schedule. Latest update indicates mid to late March 2007. Nominations for new AAB members were created. The committee received two volunteers' applications which were forwarded to the Mayor's office. One nominee, Lee Potter has been approved by City Council. Staff and AAB members welcomed Lee Potter to the AAB. Mr. Garcia reported that an engineering consultant for the 2007/2008 taxiway improvement has been selected and one post selection meeting held to discuss the scope of work. The next meeting is scheduled to occur March 2007, including Jeff Winters from the FAA Airport Division to attend this preliminary meeting. Mr. Shipman reported that the State of Washington, Aviation Division has approved 2 of the 6 grant requests for improvements to the airport signage and the purchase and installation of two additional wind indicators, one located at each approach end of the runway. New Business Mr. Vodry from NW Hangars had requested the airport to reimburse NW Hangars for improvement to the southeast exit gate. The AAB recommended the City consider reimbursing NW Hangars not to exceed $2,900.00 plus WST. Respectfully submitted, Jamelle R. Garcia AMG on behalf of the City of Auburn
