Approval of minutes: First order of business was to approve July 15, 2008 minutes. Motion
was made, seconded and unanimously passed that the minutes of July 15, 2008 are approved at
this time.
Old Business
Hangar rows 9 & 10 - Work on the repair are scheduled to begin Monday, September 22, 2008.
Project is schedule for 15 working days. Chet Williams Construction is the construction company
doing the repairs and installing vents. Steve Burke, City of Auburn, is the project manager.
Taxiway Construction - The FAA grant was approved by Council (9/15/08) and construction is
planned for 2009. Icon was lowest responsible bidder and the City has awarded them the project
contingent on FAA funding.
Storm water update - Two storms ponds have been cleaned and one has the infrastructure
installed. Netting is on order from the manufacturer which will then be installed to hang above the
surface and not float like the previous system.
Enclosing open t-hangars- Mr. Garcia reported the City wanted a condition survey prior to any
improvement to these buildings. AMG contacted JB Rupert Engineering and they recommended
Water & Wood Contruction. JB and AMG will contact Water & Wood and discuss the previous
finding and also ask for pricing and scope of the condition survey.
Columbia Bank Property - No additional information was available at this time.
Installing contact information on all hangars- Discussion included the idea of installing a
Knox Box system which would restrict access to the information to those requiring this
information in the event of an emergency. AMG will follow on this idea and make a
recommendation to the AAB.
Hangar rows 2-8 header structural test and condition status. - Mr. Garcia reported that three
(3) years ago AMG received a bid on the structural test and at the last meeting the AAB
recommended the Core test be conducted. AMG contacted the same company and their new
price is $6,285 which was $5,000 more than the original cost estimate. Due to the extreme price
change AMG did not move forward but is bringing this item back to the AAB for consideration.
After discussion the AAB recommends to receive at least one other cost estimate to compare and
then to choose based on the two bids.
Evening Meeting. The members discussed the evening meeting and it was decided to schedule
it October 21, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. AMG will send postcards to tenants on file notifying them of the
evening meeting.
New Business:
Request for Proposal for airport eastside properties - City of Auburn received one proposal.
Finance is reviewing the proposal against the RFP requirements and then will make
recommendations to the committees.
Fuel Terminals and Fuel pumps - Mr. Garcia reported the terminal on the east side has been
failing and the terminal are no longer supported by Applied Technologies (now QT Technologies).
The replacement terminal was quoted to AMG at $7,000.00 plus shipping and installation. AMG
contacted AirBP, and if purchased through AirBP then re-bill to the City would be $5,495 plus
freight and installation. Discussion included considering closing the east terminal and pumps and
only using the west terminal (which was replaced at no charge two years ago). Additionally it was
discussed to change the fuel traffic flow so that any backup on fueling operations would not
backup onto or interfere with the taxiway. AMG will continue to monitor the status of the fuel
terminals and report back to the AAB.
Remodel/Refurbish Airport Office and Pilot Lounge - AMG staff remodeled the entire fuilding
and has received numerous positive comments.
WSDOT Security Camera - Grant received and the City has issued a purchase order for this
project and hope to have it installed by the end of September. This will be a pan and zoom which
will be accessible via the internet and a link will be on the S50WA.com website and from the
WSDOT website.
2009 Airport Rates and Fees - Mr. Garcia informed the AAB that the Rates and fees for 2009
need to be addressed. The City has normally set pricing with a minimum of the August CPI. Mr.
Garcia said once the August 2008 CPI has been published he will apply the CPI to the current
base rate and have those numbers and a recommendation at the October AAB meeting.
Open Discussion. None
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jamelle R. Garcia
