HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-17-2009 Minutes of the Auburn Airport Advisory Committee February 17, 2009 8:00 am Northwest Aviation College Classroom 1 Attendance: AAB Members: Robert Myers, Chair Mark Babcock Lee Potter Airport Management: Jamelle Garcia, Michael Shipman Meeting called to order at 8:01 am First order of business was to approve the minutes of the last meeting. Motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed that the minutes of January 20, 2009 minutes are approved at this time. Old Business Taxiway Construction 2007/2008 update - Garcia reported the only new update was that ICON materials did accept the award for construction. Also added to the award is replacement of runway lighting with an additional engineering cost added. Construction will be the beginning of July. Storm Water Update - Garcia reported flooding at the northend After discussion it was recommended that a document proceduce outlining the problem and submitted to the City explaining the recurring issue of flooding during heavy rains at the north end hangars, especially in hangar row nine. This document will outline the problem and any possible solutions AMG has to eliminate the flooding. A motion was made by the Board and seconded for Airport Management to draft a document looking for assistance with this problem. Hangar Rows 2-8 Condition Survey - Garcia reported that he has an appointment to meet with engineer JB Rupert to examine the survey and make comments and or to have the engineer make suggestions regarding the survey. Discuss Installing Emergency Contact Information on all Hangars- Shipman stated only a hand full of responses for requested emergency contact information from all associations has been filed with the airport office. However, the mapping system is nearly complete as we are adding the final touches so it should be installed by mid to late March. In the absence of a complete list and response of emergency contact information by the association, management will conclude that the Association President and its respective Board Members will be contacted when needed in emergency situations. Annual Review of Airport Rules and Regulations- The annual review of the Rules and Regulations has received at least one volunteer and management will be asking for at least one more. Garcia said that we would e-mail a hard copy of the rules and regulations to those helping in the review process and will look forward to finding dates and times to begin the process. Swap Meet/Yard Sale - Shipman stated so far tenant views of having a sale at the airport have been favorable. Linda at AMG will attend the next meeting to share ideas and thoughts. She will be handling the details and complete planning of the event with support from airport office staf£ Passed along were ideas to advertise with the Green River chapter of the WPA and maybe Auburn Reporter. New Business: Pavement Damage Hangar Ramp Areas - Shipman reported that storm water drains t had been damaged by recent rains, causing large holes in the airport ramp (pot holes) along with massive pavement cracks throughout the area. AMG will get estimates to fix or repair these areas of concern and coordinate with the City. Trade Show- Garcia reported the to the Board basic information about the Annual Aviation Trade Show being held at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. Passes were handed out to the Board Members and guests. The Economy and Possible Effects at the Airport- Garcia reported the airport has lost a number of tenants due to the economy and fuel sales have declined. If this decline continues the airport will implement plans for a`what ifl plan. Currently fuel sales are down 32 percent and will most likely drop off more. Minor discussions took place among the board members. Elect Chair Person for 2009 - Garcia brought up the possibility of electing a new chair person if Mr. Myers wanted to retire from the position. Mr. Myers said he would chair until someone wanted to take over. Open Discussion: None Meeting was adjourned at 9:01 am.
