HomeMy WebLinkAbout667 ~ . .11III -.. .......-.., ~ ORDINANCE NO. 667 t AN ORDINANCE: Declaring a public emergency to exist requiring the expenditure during the year 1928, from the current expense fund of the City of Auburn, of moneys not provided for in the budget for the year 1928, for the purpose of redeeming and acquiring title to Lot 5, the east 73 feet of Lot 6 and a portion of Lot 9, all in Block B of Lunn's Garden Tracts to Auburn, for the purpose of protecting the Uity of ~uburn on account of local unpaid assessments against said three tracts of land amounting in the aggregate to $2,054.88, said three tracts of land having been hereto,fore so Id to King County for general taxes; estimating the amount of moneys required to meet such emergency; and. directing that emergency warrants be drawn upon the Current ~xpense Fund of the City of Auburn to meet such expenditures. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the following are facts: Lot 5 in Block B of Lunn's Garden Tracts to Auburn has been recently sold to King County for general taxes for the sum of $201.18; there are unpaid local assessments against said Lot 5 amounting in the aggregate to $532.53; the east 73 Feet of Lot 6 in Block B of Lunn's Garden Tracts to Auburn has been reoently sold to King County for general taxes for the sum of $100.58; there are unpaid local assessments against said east 73 feet of said Lot 6 amounting in the aggregate to $258.35; Lot 9 in Block B of Lunn's Garden Tracts to Auburn, ex. W. 172' less C.M.& St. P. R/W andji}x. W. 195' of por E. of Co. Rd. and N. of C. M. & St. P. R/W Ex. lI.l20' thereof; also Ex. W. 205.2' S. of R/W E. of Milwaukee Ave., has been recently sold to King County for general t axes for the sum of $382.12; there are unpaid local assessments against said portion of said Lot 9 amounting in the aggregate to $1264.00; and that it is neoessary for the City of Auburn in order to protect said City as to said unpaid looal assessments to redeem from King County and aoquire ti tlefrom King County of said three traots of land heretofore sold to King Uounty as aforesaid under the provisions of Chapter 170 nf the Laws of Washington 1925, extra~ordinary session, where- by such redemption may be mad~and title aoquired by the City of Auburn upon the payment of the faot of such taxes with costs, without penalty or int erest. Section 2. That by reason of the facts stated in Section 1 of this ordinance, a publio emergency now exists requiring the expenditure during the year 1928, from the current expense fund of the City of Auburn, of moneys not provided for in the budget for the year 1928, for the pur- pose of redeeming and acquiring title from King County to the three traots of land hereinbefore particularly desoribed; that such emergenoy could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of making the budget of es- timated expenditures from the Current .c.ixpense Fund of the City of Auburn during the year 1928; and that the estimated amount of expenditures re- quired to meet such emergency is the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00). Section 3. That emergency warrants be drawn on the Current .Expense Fund of the City of Auburn in payment of the costs and expenses of redeeming and aoquiring title to said three traots of land above partioular- ly desoribed to the amount of. but not fo exceed the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00) in the aggregate.
