NO. 68;
AN ORDINANCE relating to the cutting of grass, weeds and
brush growing upon any lot or tract of land, or upon the street
fronting such lot or tract of land, and providing for the remo-
val of snow or ice from sidewalks abutting on any lot or tract
of land within the corporate limits of the City of Auburn, and
providing penalties for the violation thereof.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Every person owning, occupying or oontrolling
any premises fronting on any street, alley or public plaoe in
the corporate limits of the City of Auburn shall cut or oause to
be out all grass, weeds and brush growing on such frontage, as
often as the same may require cutting, to the end that said grass,
weeds or brush shall not attain a height of over six inohes, and
every person who shall permit grass, weeds or brush to grow to a
height exceeding six inches between the property line of such pro-
perty and the street, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section 2. Every person owning, occupying or controlling
any lot or lots within the corporate limits of the City of Auburn
shall cause all grass, weeds, brush and other noxious growths to
be cut thereon as often as the same may require cutting to pre-
vent the same from attaining a height of over six inches, a.nd ev-
ery person owning, occupying or controlling any lot or lots with-
in the corporate limits of the City of Auburn who shall permit
such lot or lots to grow up to grass, weeds, brush or other nox-
ious growth, to a height exceeding six inches, or who shall permit
any rubbish, dirt, debris or other matter to accumulate upon such
lot or lots, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section 3. Every person owning, occupying or controlling
any lot or lots within the corporate limits of the City of Auburn
shall remove, within twenty~four (24) hours, all ice and snow from
sidewalks abutting on such lot or lots, and any person owning, oc-
cupying or controlling such lot or lots who shall fail to remove
s~ch ice or snow from such lot or lots within twenty-fout (24)
hours shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
Section 4. Any person who shall violate any of the provi-
sions of this Ordinanoe shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon oonviotion therefor shall be punished by a fine of not
less than $5.00 nor more than $50~OO, in the disoretion of the
Cou rt .
Section 5. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be
in foroe five days from and after its passage, approval and pub-
lioation as required by law.
