<br />, <br />. <br /> <br />: ~..,. . <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />,., <br /> <br />7 tf---tf <br />ORDINANCE NO. * <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE to provide revenue and imposing and previdin~ for <br />the cellection of an annual license not exceeding Two Dollars($2.00) on <br />every dog owned or harbored within the limits of the City of Auburn, <br />providing for the killing of all dogs not duly licensed fO\l.nd at large <br />within the limits of said city and prescribing a penalty for permittUg <br />any female dog to run at large within the limits of said city when in <br />heat. _ __' <br /> <br />VlliEREAS Section 9127 of Remington's Compiled Statutes of <br />Washington gives and grants to a city council of a city of the third <br />class power "to impose and collect an annual license not exceeding <br />Two Dollars on every dog owned or harbored within the limits of the <br />city; to prohibit dogs running at large and to Pf_Qvidefor the killing <br />of all dogs not duly licensed found at large"; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Auburn do <br />ordain as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. That there is hereby imposed and shall be collected <br />an annual license of One Dellar ($1.00) on every male dog or:spayed female <br />dog owned or harbored within the limits of the City of Auburn; and there <br />is hereby imposed and shall be collected an annual license of Two Dollars <br />($2.00) on every unspayed female dog owned or harbored wi thin the limi ts <br />ef said ci ty. <br /> <br />Section 2. That it .hall be the duty of every owner of any <br />dog or having possession of any dog or harboring any dog within the <br />corporate limits ef said city to procure from the City Clerk the license <br />herein provided for; and that the termination of such license shall be <br />at the end of the calendar year in which such license shall be issued. <br /> <br />Section 3. That on payment to the City Clerk of the amount <br />of said license fee or tax it shall be the duty of the City Clerk\of <br />the City of Auburn to issue a license to the person applying for the <br />same, which license shall remain in force for one year from and after <br />the first day of January in the year in which such license is issued <br />and not lenger. Such license shall be denominated a "dog license". <br />The City Clerk shall furnish and provide to each licensee a metal tag <br />and upon such tag shall be the inscription "AUBURN" tegether with the <br />year in which the license is issued and the number corresponding with <br />the number of the license; and that such tag shall be appended to and <br />at all times kept upon a; cellar which the owner of such dog or the per- <br />son having possession of or harboring such dog shall pre vide and place <br />and at all times keep upon the neck of the dog se licensed. <br /> <br />Section 4. That it~shallbe the duty of the City Clerk to <br />keep a list of the names and addresses of all persons to whom such <br />licenses are issued with the number and character of the license issued <br />to each person. <br /> <br />Section 5. That all dogs owned or harbored within the limits <br />of the City of Auburn, not having thereon a collar and license tag as here- <br />in provided, are hereby declared to be a public nuisance, and that it shall <br />be the duty of the Chief of Police of the City of Auburn, or some other <br />person by him appointed for that purpose to distrain and impound all such <br />dogs; and that the Chief of Police of the City of Auburn or any police <br />officer of said city or any person appointed by the Police Department of said <br />city to enforce the provisions of this ordinance may in his discretion <br />kill forthwith all dogs not licensed as herein provided and found r\l.nning <br />at large within the limits of said city. <br /> <br />f <br />
