presentation.

the City of Auburn and other cities within King County

County through year 2011. Mayor Lewis has been a
great champion for the support of veterans and the
work the levy enables.
The levy directly funds Valley Cities Counseling and
Consultation Veterans Outreach Program which
provided assistance to over 130 veterans and their
families in 2009.
In cooperation with other charitable and veterans
services agencies, some of the assistance provided
by Valley Cities Counseling and Consultation
Veterans Outreach included obtaining discharge
paperwork; job placement; education assistance;
transitional and permanent housing; upgrading
discharge types; emergency assistance funding;
enrollment in Veterans Administration services;
upgrading disabilities; post-traumatic disorder
identification, training and treatment; and other
military related traumatic brain injuries.
Mr. Penner reported that efficiency in treatment has
improved through greater networking among federal,
state, county, and municipal governments and other
local agencies. The levy has provided an opportunity
for Valley Cities Counseling and Consultation to
provide necessary, ground-breaking, and leading-
edge services to the veterans of King County.
Mayor Lewis stated that he and former Mayor John
Wise worked to reinstitute the Veterans Levy to
ensure that services are provided to veterans in King
County.
