A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, RENAMING A
PUBUC FAGLITY WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF AUBURN

WHEREAS; Resolution 2555 established the City's procedure for naming
public`parks, property, and facilities; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with that Resolution, the City considers such
things as the names of geographical areas or references; natural or geological
,
features; historical or cultural significance; or individuals (or entities) who have
made substantial donations to the public park, property, or facilities or who have
been otherwise instrumental in the acquisition or development of the public park,
property, or facilities; and WHEREAS, 'the City has received a petition signed by members of
Auburn's American Legion Post 78 and Auxiliary Post 78; the Inter-Tribal Warriors Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1741, and other citizens
asking that the City'name the Veterans Memorial Building in Veterans Memorial `
Pack after William C. "Billp Warren; and
WHEREAS, the pefition states that Mr. Warren served in the United States
Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star for Valor, was

active in the Aubum Veterans Community, was the inspirational designer of the
Aubum Veterans Memorial and_ served as the chairman of the committee that
raised the funds and oversaw construction of the,memorial.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:

Section 1. The City Council of the City of Auburn finds that Mr.
Warren's outstanding service to this country and.to the veterans of the City of

Aubum meets the criteria in Resolution 2555
Section 2. The Veterans Memorial Building in Veterans Memorial Park
in Aubum, Washington shall be renamed the "Wifliam C. Warren Building," and a
suitable memorial shall be placed at the building.
Section 3. The Mayor is authorized to implement such administrative
procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect and . be in full force
upon passage and signatures hereon.
